DC VegFest - Sept. 24th

Hey guys! Back from our trip to San Francisco and wanted to let you know about DC VegFest! I'll be there this Saturday with some friends and my doggie. Check out the info:

The DC VegFest is the largest vegetarian celebration in the Metro area, attracting several thousand attendees each year. Offering a great time for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike, this free outdoor festival will showcase over 75 exhibitors and provides an opportunity to try free food samples, hear from dynamic speakers, see cooking demonstrations, explore delicious meat-free cuisine, and shop from several stores. Attendees can even get their cholesterol checked for free.

WHAT: DC VegFest
WHEN: Sat., Sept. 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (rain or shine)
WHERE: University Yard at George Washington Univ. (H St. between 20th/21st Sts., NW)
METRO: four blocks from the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro station.

I'm looking forward to the 19 food vendors! The first 500 attendees will also receive a gift bag of goodies.

Co-organized by D.C.-based nonprofits, Compassion Over Killing and the Vegetarian Society of D.C.

Quick Giveaway:
$10 in DC VegFest Bucks to use towards food at the event!
Comment about why you'll be attending the event by 11:59pm 9/21/11. Sorry it's so short, but I need time to mail them out.

Come support and learn something new. See y'all there!

I'll be attending for three reasons.
One. I want to get healthier and switching to a purely vegetarian diet should help.
Two. My mom is lactose-intolerant and I would like to learn more vegan baking recipes.
Three. Isa Chandra Moskowitz will be there. She is awesome!

I'll be attending VegFest because I love all the yummy food that's available! Sticky Fingers, here I come (even though your line is always soooo long) :)

Because I have my heart set on obtaining a pair of "vegan" booty shorts that I passed up on last year.

I'm excited to attend DC Vegfest because as a health coach specializing in supporting clients to transition to a plant-based diet, I know I will learn lots of great tips and resources to share with them!

I'm going to the DC VegFest to enjoy all of the free food--it's going to be so delicious and I can't wait for an afternoon of eating, hearing great speakers, and enjoying the celebratory atmosphere.

I'm attending because it is one of my favorite things that happens in DC each year, and I've been looking forward to it since I stuffed my face with vegan whoopie pies from Vegan Treats at last year's VegFest. This year, I'm bringing a cooler to transport all my vegan treats home safely :)

attending (possibly tbd) because i am a poor college student, this is a free event, and I can travel to and from the festival for under $3 :)

I have three friends road tripping from NY to attend DC Vegfest so we can bask in the lovely vegan lifestyle and eat way too much food. Supporting the local vegan places in the DC area shows how successful they can be- which only encourages more restaurants to sprout up and even for vegan options in places you wouldn't expect.

Isa Chandra Moskowitz is also travelling a long way, you've got to support that!

I've been involved in veg advocacy since 2002- almost half of my life! From leafletting, to starting and running a vegetarian group in college, to cooking and, of course, eating- I love to get involved in veg advocacy no matter what city I'm in, and DC is my most recent home:)

Isa's recipes have made me so happy- and I'd love the chance to see her cook some of them in person!

I will be attending because I love being vegan, trying new food, and meeting new wonderful people. This is also how I introduce others to the "vegan world". My mom came with me to the Baltimore fest and is now a vegan. My boyfriend, sister, nephews, uncle and mom will all be joining me this time. And it's a great excuse to visit DC!

I am attending because my loved one just had cancer cells removed from her lungs and I want to show her how wonderfully healing a Veg Lifestyle can be! I will have my family in tow, which will be one of life's most educational experiences... Exposure to healthy lifestyle and mindful thinking.
